English: Tortoise mother (Turtle mommy) being boiled alive & tortured in a pot, heated up by burning woods until she dies — Done by her own unfortunate daughter Sandrembi (Sanarembi), being forced by stepmother and stepsister — Classical Meitei mythology & folk epic of ancient Kangleipak civilisation (early Manipur realm) — In the story, tortoise mother (Sandrembi's human mother's rebirth) told her daughter about her pains in the heat multiple times; Every time, Sandrembi tried to rescue her mother by removing the burning woods to avoid heating her; However, at each time, her cruel, evil and selfish stepmother and stepsister forced her to put the burning woods back to heat the poor tortoise — As a metaphor as well as an allegory, the condition of the tortoise mother is always used to compare to the conditions of any form of dying or endangered or extinct elements of Meitei cultural heritage by several writers in Meithei literature
